About the address of our personal Wedding Website

Will we have our own address for our personal wedding website?

Yes, you will have your very own unique wedding website address. If you type it in the address line of your internet page your website will appear. Your address will function separately form the main website of www.OurWeddingPage.co.za

What will the address of our personal wedding website be? If we choose a private personal wedding website what will the address be?

Let’s first look at open websites:

For general or open personal wedding websites we use two formats:

http://(Name)-(Name).OurWeddingPage.co.za
Or
http://(Name)and(Name).OurWeddingPage.co.za

e.g http://TomandCarina.OurWeddingPage.co.za
or http://Tom-Carina.OurWeddingPage.co.za

Whose name is first? You decide! Or at least in most cases you get to choose. This means that you will also have the choice of using:

e.g. http://CarinaandTom.OurWeddingPage.co.za
or http://Carina-Tom.OurWeddingPage.co.za

Usually you will have your first choice. However, it may so happen that another couple has exactly the same names. As the first couple’s personal wedding website is already in existence we need to work out a satisfying solution for the second couple – not too difficult as there are four choices.

Tip 1 If the ‘and’ between your names makes it difficult to read your website address change your names around. TomandCarina is easier to read than CarinaandTom Tip 2 Please note that your address does not use the http://www but only the http:// as part of the address

For private wedding website addresses we use a different format and make different arrangements. However, this information is confidential. If you need a private wedding website, please contact us and we will gladly outline our procedures. Can other people ‘take’ our address?

It does happen that two couples with exactly the same names wants a website in the same period. We can usually use the names in different sequences, or add a middle name. It usually sorts out.

To prevent this from happening we check and confirm your website address. How will our guests know the address of our personal wedding website? Through you. You may want to

  • give it to them by mobile/cellphone or telephone
  • sms it
  • e-mail it
  • add it to your wedding invitations or to your save-the-date card

Will they be able to find us by using search engines like Google and Yahoo?

    Yes and no.

The answer is ‘no’ if you choose a private wedding website when signing up. The wedding websites of couples requesting privacy are stored on a VPN where search engines cannot reach. No-one will be able to google you. If privacy or discretion is important this is an excellent option, and we can virtually guarantee your privacy.

If you do not choose a private wedding website your guests may be able to google you. But the internet is very large and your website might be on Google Search Page 271. However, please ask us if you would like to be googled, as we will link you … although your website might still stay one page 217

How do guests go about searching for us if they’ve lost our address?

Please ask us to link you (27-021-976-5301 or This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . Your guests will then be able to type in your names and find you. If they refine the search by adding more terms such as ‘wedding’ or ‘wedding page’ or ‘weddingpage’ the search will be more effective

    About the password

Why do we need a password?

We consider your wedding website your personal property, and your password gives you access to it.

Everybody can read your wedding website but only you as the holders of the password can change its content. Actually you will need a username and a password to access your wedding website. We provide you with the username in your notification e-mail. To create your wedding website you will be working on the ‘inside’ of your wedding website (in ordinary MSWord … not HTML!); you can only enter by typing in your username and password.

When you enter your username and password, a usermenu will pop up (at the top of the page), where you will be able to choose your ‘look’ (theme and homepage front), upload your homepage photos and all other photos and add your text.

In short: your website is accessed by typing in your username and password.

BUT NOTE: you will have two usernames and one or two passwords.

You do not only want to access your website but you also want to access your account with us at www.OurWeddingPage.co.za

You may want to access your account to check how many days you have left or to renew your website term (many people do not pay in one go but take out 2xthree months)

To access your account you go to our website i.e. www.OurWeddingPage.co.za. At the bottom right corner you will see ‘Renew Here’. When you type in your username password your account appears.

In short: you will have a username and password to access your own website

    And

You will have a username and password to access your account with us

Where do we get our usernames and password/s?

You choose your password/s yourself. You can have one password or two passwords. When you sign up a form will appear with two section: the Registration Section and the Wedding Details Section. Each section will request a password from you. You may use the same password for each section, which means you will have only one password to worry about. Choosing one password through-out makes sense – but do remember to enter it where it is requested.

Or you may choose a different password for each section. However, if you choose two passwords you will need to remember where to use each one.

It is actually quite easy: the registration password (the first one) is used to access your account with us. If you need to see how many days you have left or wish to renew your website term (many people do not pay in one go but take out 2xthree months) you go to our website i.e. www.OurWeddingPage.co.za. At the bottom right corner you will see ‘Renew Here’. If you type in your first password and username your account details appear. Your website password is used to access your website, together with the username we provide.

We want our bridesmaid and bestman to write us something. Can they access our personal wedding website?

Yes and No. If you do not give your username and password to them, they cannot access your website.

So, if you want them to work on your website, you need to give them your username and password.

We do recommend that you use discretion when sharing your username and password. Why not ask them to write you an e-mail or word document? You can then cut and paste it into your website yourself.

Note: use the icon titled ‘paste from word’ when pasting a word document into your website

Your opinion on sharing our password and username with our friends and family? It is up to you. You do have a guestbook page where anyone can send you messages. Before sharing your whole website, consider both sides:

On the plus side anyone will be able to load their photos and text – a very fun approach to create a sense of sharing

On the minus side everyone will be able to load their photo’s and text – a nightmare if you don’t like their input.

How about a degree of discretion? Share your password and username with those you really want to contribute to your website. Ask the rest to e-mail you, and then you add their messages to your website.

Also note: your Diary and Notes pages are part of your private section. Everyone with your username and password will now have access to these private pages.

    Help! We’ve forgotten our password/s

Oops! But don’t worry, nothing is lost. You have a ‘forgot your password’ function, through which you can get a new password.
