Dear Libbie
We plan to create our own wedding invites. However, the paper is a problem. We've been to our nearest paper shop, Creative Talents in Drie Rivieren but they just don't stock paper with the right colour and texture for the wedding invitation we want to create. They're quite expensive, too. Can you suggest where we can get nice paper wholesale? Thanks Renie
Dear Renie Yes, beautiful paper is expensive. I'm in the Cape, and do not know your nearest wholesalers. (Anyone out there who can help us? E-mail please!) Perhaps you can consult your Yellow Pages?
The second option would be to contact Creative Talents again to find out how they source their paper. If they use local papermakers you may be able to order paper made to your specifications - and you'll have to be prepared to pay even more!
Another option is to make your own paper. I've done it myself, and it's quite easy - a bit messy and it takes time and a few tries before you get the desired effect but it's fun. Get the recipe and directions either at your library or bookshop, or Google it.
BUT how about just getting a wedding website? Some of our clients use it instead of wedding invitations. We change one of your pages to ‘Our Wedding Invitation' (free of charge if you subscribe to www.OurWeddingPage.co.za) You then use it as your wedding invitation. Simply sms or email your website address to your guests, or you can send them a simple (and affordable!) Save-the Date card. If you book your wedding website for three months it is certainly quite affordable. It is also eco-friendly, fun and useful
